The Cornwall Catchment Beaver Management Group (CCBMG) was established by a partnership of organisations to oversee and prepare for wild beavers living within catchments across Cornwall. The group is a sub-set of the Cornwall Catchment Partnership.
There are licenced and unlicenced wild-living beaver populations in Devon, as well as on the Cornish side of the River Tamar. The CCBMG was formed so that stakeholder groups with an interest in beaver populations could be represented in the decisions made about how beavers are monitored and responses given to beaver activity across the region.
The CCBMG meets quarterly to discuss updates. An Annual Stakeholder Forum for local interested people and organisations to represent the interests of the people that live, work in, and visit Cornwall, will take place in 2025.
If you need any information, or support, regarding beaver management please get in contact.
The CCBMG covers the whole of Cornwall, excluding the River Tamar catchment. For beaver management support in the Tamar region please contact: Beavers@devonwildlifetrust.org
Respect the open water environment and its ecological importance. Check your equipment is clean, dry and free from invasive plants or animals when visiting new sites. We would recommend using the biosecurity procedures outlined in the Check Clean Dry campaign. Be mindful of the impact your activities might have on the aquatic ecosystem and aim to work in a way that preserves the natural balance, protecting these vital water sources and their inhabitants for future generations.
This website has been designed to support communities and land managers living alongside beavers in Britain. It is also a useful source of relevant information on Beaver Advisory/Management Groups in river catchments where wild beavers are becoming established. It has been designed by Devon Wildlife Trust and Beaver Trust.
